There was plenty of discussion today. We discussed a chapter from Letters to a Young Mathematician about computers as incredible tools for mathematics, but will never replace the human and the “gray matter between our ears”. We read the “Story of Mathematics” and discussed the origins of counting and more complicated arithmetic. Coach Dave discussed the proper grip for volleying in tennis. MLA format for research papers and a discussion on avoiding plagiarism by becoming an expert in citation was on the menu after lunch.
We are looking forward to visiting the Melvin Price Locks and Dam tomorrow and the New Roots Urban Farm on Friday. By Friday, we should all have our bags packed with everything for our camping trip on Monday. Please let us know if we can provide any extra gear for the trip.
